Percussion lessons where accessibility meets a standard for excellence
Lou Pearson is a percussionist, music educator, and researcher in Washington with an emphasis on developing new teaching tools, creating access for all musicians, and making music communities that are welcoming for everyone.
Lou is a percussion and music educator currently based in Ellensburg, Washington, currently obtaining bachelor’s degrees in Music Education and Percussion Performance at Central Washington University. They are also currently researching the intersection of neurodivergent identities and percussion studentship. Lou thinks that the music industry as it stands today is filled with arbitrary barriers and that too many growing musicians are turned away at the door. Music is for every human, no matter what it looks like for each individual. Their dream is to create a new, adaptable and modern curriculum for percussion pedagogy that can be used by anyone from solo learners, to K-12 band directors, to experienced percussion instructors.
At CWU they have played with the Wind Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and every quarter with the Percussion Ensemble. They currently study with Josh Gianola. They live with their partner Branden and three cats named Soup, Oatmeal, and Four Cheese Lasagna (for real)
